St John’s Preschool was established in 1970 by the Parish Council of St John’s Anglican Church North Ryde. It is run as a community service to families in the area.

Staff

The preschool is staffed by Christian teachers who conduct the program in such a manner as to provide for balanced personal development, from a Christian perspective, of each child, incorporating spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, family and social aspects of life. The philosophy of the Preschool is founded on, and shaped by, Christian beliefs and consequently we love and serve God and honour His Son Jesus Christ in all that we do.
The staff team consists of the director (Early Childhood trained teacher); Early Childhood trained teacher; 3 child care Workers; Administrator.
The team is experienced and highly committed to providing the best service for children who attend the preschool.
The team is assisted by ministry staff from North Ryde Anglican and also volunteering parents.

Program

The preschool is very proud of its reputation for preparing children well for school. We aim to give children confidence in themselves and their abilities, good language and social skills, and an enjoyment of learning that gives them an advantage in formal schooling.
The program includes a wide range of activities each day, with child centered language, art and music components. The program adapts to the needs and interests of the children. Each term is different with the developmental needs of the children being the focus of our planning process.
Throughout the year a number of activities occur including visits from the Fire Brigade; Police; musicians & performers. Children also participate in excursions to the library (across the road from the preschool) and the adjacent school (North Ryde Public).
Children participate in a weekly singing time and Bible reading with the assistance of the church ministry team.
Two preschool services are run in conjunction with North Ryde Anglican; one in Term 1 & the other in Term 3.
The preschool is part funded by the New South Wales Department of Community Services, and is licensed according to its regulations. The preschool is licensed for 40 children per day, aged between 3 and 5 years. It is run by a Management Committee compromising church and parent representatives.
The current fee rate is available on request. Fees are payable a minimum of two weeks in advance. There is a bond payable at enrolment, which is credited to your account when your child leaves the Preschool. Limited financial subsidy is available. Please contact for further details.
Registration forms are available on request or from the website. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee. Places are allocated during terms 3 and 4 of the preceding year.
